When other city departments sub-contract services to private companies, those city departments require the sub-contractors pay union scale wages and benefits. The CHA lets its sub-contractors provide substandard pay and benefits which causes low worker morale and high turn-over. At the same time, the CHA's own executive offices are cleaned by maintenance staff that are paid wages and benefits that reflect area standards. Please come to this SEIU press conference.
