Grant ______________________________ STOP THE DEMOLITION OF ALL CURRENTLY OCCUPIED BUILDINGS AND LOW-RISES! "Nobody wants to rent to you if you have kids, and when you say you come from public housing, people look at you like you just said you sell drugs. And what about those of us on zero income? How will we be able to pay for light and gas? There isn’t housing out here for us!” --Janis Stanton, President, King Drive RMC HUD promised to conduct an annual study of the Chicago housing market’s ability to absorb displaced CHA families searching for apartments with their Section 8 vouchers. The CHA promised “they would adjust their relocation and demolition schedules if the results of HUD’s market review or HUD’S assessment of success rates of vouchers indicate the need to do so. ” They both lied. Help us hold the HUD and CHA accountable to their promises. Attend the Chicago Housing Authority Board of Commissioners Meeting at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17 at the Judge Slater Apartments, 740 East 43rd Street (just a couple of blocks from Wells)! Support the Central Advisory Council by telling the CHA that HUD must do a housing market study immediately. Ida B.
