Metropolitan Tenants Organization (MTO) is having their annual meeting on Sat. Oct. 12, 5 PM to 9 PM at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, 2247 W. Chicago Ave. The event is free and there is food. HOWEVER, R.S.V.P. as soon as possible in order to attend. John Bartlett stressed that an advance head count for the food is a must and that people can't just show up and wander in. 2. The Chicago Coalition is taking their Soup Line Actions against the State Governatorial Campaign on the road. Don't know if there will actually be soup this time, but CCH is taking vans to Rockford for the first debate between Blagojevich and Ryan. People interested in the housing issue at the State level are invited to come along. The CCH vans will leave in front of CCH's office on Mon., Oct. 7 at 4 PM (NEXT MONDAY!). The vans will caravan then to Rockford where the debate will be held at 7 PM at the Coronado Theater, 314 N. Main St. in Rockford. There are no guarantees that people who go will actually get in to see the debate and the action is planned for outside the debate. Tickets for the debate, if still available have to be reserved by calling (815) 968-5222 in advance. For more info from CCH or to reserve a seat in a van, call (312) 435-4548. If you go, please tell them that you are from the Coalition for Fair Community Development as I'm not sure they know that CFCD has been turning out a handful of folks for their actions. 3. If you think that the USA should spend its money on building housing instead of bombs, there is a NO IRAQ WAR protest on Mon. Oct. & at 5 PM (AGAIN, NEXT MONDAY!!) to be held at the Federal Buldg., 220 S. Dearborn. Some MTO and CFCD folk are going. From: A.
